TRUE MOTHERS
True Mothers are a dying breed
In this world of sin and greed.
And yet perhaps there is no need
As great as that for Mothers.
True Mothers put their family first
Upon themselves they take the worst.
The Bible says that he is cursed
Who fails to honor Mothers.
True Mothers spend their time at home
Their feet are never found to roam
Tending to what must be done
We owe so much to Mothers.
True Mothers tend to every care
Our burdens they so often bear
Our journeys often take us where
We long for our dear Mothers.
True Mothers are of God’s own stock
As strong and solid as a rock
Perhaps the firstlings of his flock
Thank you, LORD, for Mothers.
“CONSEQUENCES FOR ATTENDING THE PROM”
Ben Justice
“Heritage Christian School” of Findlay, OH has a very strict moral code when compared to other schools, even
other so-called “Christian” schools. This school forbids dancing, rock music, hand-holding and kissing. One
student decided to violate the rules of the school by taking his girlfriend to her public high school prom. The
Principal of “Heritage,” Tim England, warned the student that he would be suspended if he did this. As a matter
of fact, this student had originally agreed to the school’s rules when he signed a statement of cooperation at the
beginning of the year. One news source states the following:
The teen, who is scheduled to receive his diploma May 24, would be suspended from classes and receive an “incomplete” on remaining
assignments.
The student “would not be permitted to attend graduation but would get a diploma once he completes final
exams.”
The principal of the school made a statement that many young people and parents (even in the Lord’s church)
need to give heed to:
In life, we constantly make decisions whether we are going to please self or please God. Frost (the student’s name, BJ) chose one path,
and the school committee chose the other.
This is a Baptist school. And while we would not agree with the theology of the school, many parents (and even
schools) ought to wise up regarding the prom. It is that time of year — PROM TIME. Many students will go to
the prom, and sadly, many parents have no idea of the sinfulness of the modern dance, which is lasciviousness.
We would expect this out of worldly parents, but it is profoundly disturbing when some parents of the Lord’s
church have no problem with allowing their children to go to the prom. And, even if they don’t dance, it still
allows them to be placed into an environment where temptation to do that very thing (and perhaps many other
things as well) is extremely strong. After all, dancing is the name of the game at the prom.
Sometimes, young people will rebel against the rules of their parents. Parents ought to take some advice from
this school: Break the rules and expect to pay the price!
Christians are to be different. Christians are “in the world” but not “of the world.” Christians have been
transformed into being what God would them to be (Rom. 12:2). Christians are to abstain from fleshly lusts
which war against the soul (I Pet. 2:11). “Abstain from all appearance of evil” are the words of Paul (I Thess. 5:
21). How can we pray “Lord, lead us not into temptation” (Matt. 6”13) and then lead ourselves right into it?
Parents, have a prom alternative for your precious children! This is not “patty-cake,” but serious business, and
many parents are going to have to answer to God for neglecting to raise their children in the nurture and
admonition of the Lord (Eph. 6:4).
HAPPINESS
It isn't how much of this world you possess,
Nor the number of men you employ;
It isn't how great are the folk you impress,
But the things you have learned to enjoy.
It isn't that you may have earned wide acclaim,
Nor that you are well known far and near;
But happy you are, if you wear a good name,
As you face the whole world without fear.
So thus, you'll be one who will sleep well at night,
And you'll truly enjoy every day.
For life is sublime when you know you've done right,
And you've lived for the Lord while you may.

“It has well been said of our age that there is something wrong with a civilization in which a man who writes a
dirty play or novel is called an artist and a mother who rears a number of Christian men and women is classified
as an unemployed housewife.”
