DEERFIELD HIGH SCHOOL PROMOTES PORNOGRAPHY

Deerfield High school located in Deerfield, IL (a northern Chicago suburb) has had a long
history of presenting pro-homosexual material to its students. Lora Sue Hauser is the
school issues advisor for Illinois Family Institute. She has been actively involved in
Illinois school advocacy issues for 12 years. She has led grass roots efforts for elementary
through high schools in the suburban areas. These efforts included challenging
inappropriate materials, sex education curriculum, gay activist agendas, and First
Amendment violations. She has monitored very closely the agenda that Deerfield High
School has been pushing for many years now. She actually lives in Deerfield, IL. She
said, “After almost 15 years of school advocacy and reviewing many objectionable books and
curricula, I have never seen anything this vulgar and harmful to students.” So, what is
this all about? Get ready to be shocked is an understatement. In fact, there are things
that can’t be revealed in this church bulletin article (sources will be given at the end).
Deerfield High School is offering the book “Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National
Themes” (Parts One & Two). This two volume book is laced with the most horrible, vulgar
and disgusting smut ever to be put in print. These two volumes were originally required
reading for English Class. After the school was bombarded with outrage from many
concerned citizens, the book has been dropped from required reading to “Optional Title.”
“Optional Title,” according to the principal, means that the student may select the books
to study with peers and be guided by the teacher. It is still on the list and is still in the
school library. Fourteen-year-old students were told to keep their attendance at a school
panel discussion promoting homosexuality a secret from their parents. These students
were required to attend a “Straight Gay Alliance Network” panel led by upperclassmen
identified as homosexual. They were also required to sign a “confidentiality agreement”
before attending the session that forbade them from telling anyone — including their
parents — about the panel material. What Deerfield High School has done and continues
to do is all a part of the pro-homosexual agenda. As one author pointed out, “If you can
maintain control of undeveloped and impressionable youth and spoonfeed them
misinformation, lies, and half-truths about dangerous, disordered and extremely risky
behaviors, then you can control the future and ensure that those behaviors are not only
fully accepted, but celebrated.”
Back to the book mentioned above. Not only does this book promote homosexuality, but it
contains some of the vilest material ever put in print. It is as disgusting as it comes. It
promotes pornography. It is laced with graphic sexual content, religious denigration and
mockery, overt racism, profanity, and some of the most graphic, vile, vivid depictions of
sodomy ever to be put in print. After having read an excerpt from the book, I was
speechless. Deerfield High School justifies this egregious choice saying it is a theme of
“hope.” The school makes heterosexuality and homosexuality morally equivalent.
Deerfield High School is not the only school with a pro-homosexual agenda. In the state
of Massachusetts, parents led an effort to prevent their children from being exposed to pro-
homosexual material in the classroom. It even went to court. A federal court ruled
Christian parents could not remove their children from an elementary school classroom
during sessions advocating the homosexual lifestyle to students. U.S. District Judge Mark
L. Wolf wrote in his decision: “An exodus from class when issues of homosexuality or
same-sex marriage are to be discussed could send the message that gays, lesbians, and
the children of same-sex parents are inferior and, therefore, have a damaging effect on
those students.” Incredible, to say the least.
No wonder many parents who still believe in Biblical morality are taking their children out
of public schools and are home schooling. But, guess what? There is a concentrated effort
to get home schooling stopped and to get children back in public schools. This is currently
underway in the state of California, where a court just recently ruled that home schooling
is unlawful and that if parents don’t have any teaching credentials, then their children
have to be put in public schools. Thankfully, efforts are being made by the governor to
overturn this ruling. Of course, this is just effort to assault God-given parental rights.
This ruling, if upheld, will subject literally thousands of parents who home school their
children to criminal charges.
The many ungodly agendas that are being promoted and pushed are breathtaking. They
seem to be moving along at warped speed. Here is another frightening statistic. The
“Centers for Disease Control and Prevention” (CDC) has just released a new study in
which it stated that “1 in 4 teen girls has a sexually transmitted infection (STI).” That
adds up to more than 3 million girls. Of course, such consequences come as a result of
pushing sex education in which children are not encouraged to remain abstinent but to
use birth control. One writer stated, “Public health officials need to admit their failures
that have led to kids paying he price. Funding irresponsible sex-ed programs, ones that
encourage kids to be sexually active, 12 times higher than funding abstinence programs
unsurprisingly results in more kids being sexually active.” To top it all off, taxpayers pay
$15.5 billion more per year for health care to take care of STIs.
We don’t have an immoral crisis in this country, we have an amoral crisis. If something is
not done and done quickly, we are going to begin to reap a very bitter harvest the likes of
which we have never seen. It has already begun. Many homes today are lacking what God
intended — a mother and a father who uphold Biblical morality and who instill these
values into their children. Many homes today are single parent or even worse — two
mommies or two daddies. And, we even have prime-time television shows that constantly
bombard the American family with smut and garbage. It is really depressing. What can we
do? The Christian must be a Christian all of the time — not just on Sunday. As the
people of God, we must have the boldness and courage to stand up and speak out against
the degradation that is destroying the very fabric this country was founded on and that is
godly righteousness.
